I regret to tell you all that we have recently learned that our beloved store cat Lucy - who has many, many friends and fans as well as a world-famous reputation - has developed feline Lymphoma, which basically means that we will likely lose her much sooner than we ever expected. But for now, she is on a medication program with the goal of achieving temporary remission of the disease, and to give her a good quality of life for a little longer.
Lucy is responding to the medication and seems to be doing really well. She
remains here at the store, because this is the place where she seems to
feel most comfortable and where she has lived most of her life, with so
many people looking after her. And now she's back in her old spots, basking in the sun in the store window - and preening on top of the NY Times stack of papers
