Almost one year ago today, Michelle in OTTAWA sent this picture of a homeless puppy found frozen to the ground on a minus 32 degree Canadian sidewalk. I don't know if you've been to Ottawa in January but it's cold. Damn cold. Michelle works at the Ottawa Humane Society, and she's been a regular contributor to CWC for several years now. That's why I've chosen her as my latest GUEST EDITOR. I've emailed her her very own password and username to the site and she will be posting her stories all week long. This puppy's name is "Reese", and he was found alone and abandoned. That's not the worst part. It was so cold, his balls were frozen to the sidewalk. She sent a second picture. Click here if you'd like to see a puppy's frozen nutsac. Click here if you'd rather not, but are willing to blame a misleading link.

Warm towels.

He is soooooo cute! awww poor little guy, who ever left him out in the cold should have to endure the same injury as punishment! People can be so damn mean to animals, I hope he goes to a forever home and is spoiled rotten!!!

Defiantly not his testicles. He still may father puppies.

Yeah that is A Christmas Story gone terribly wrong.

To those people who suggested neutering him there and then so he wouldn't have to go through the pain twice: he's far too young. Male dogs need the hormones produced... there, to develop normally and shouldn't be castrated until they've reached at least 8 months or so.

Oh yeah, and Valtrexa's right; you can't even see his balls in that photo.

At least he had the towels to comfort him!

You were in Ottawa? In a show? And I missed it? Drat... what were you in? And how does a Sask. boy learn enough French to be in a French play (if it wasn't translated)?

I live in Ottawa... I'm in Ottawa right now. It IS freaking cold. My dog often tries to run back inside as soon as we get out the door. She even thinks it's cold.

My stomach is STILL rolling at the thought of poor Reese's nutsack.

That face is Disney Cartoon cute. How could he not have a home in the real world? CRUEL! Good luck to him and his frozen...

So helping to control the pet population is not the only reason to have your pet spayed or neutered.

while checking the damage on the picture of le dog's frozen parts, i started to think, "hmm, Reese's ladyfriend is cute..." but then i scanned a bit farther to the right and it promptly went from the start of a beautiful face to the bloody remains of a frozen nutsack. chris/image editor damn your zoom placement!!
